National Qualifications (NQs) are mainly for students in secondary schools and colleges of further education. They are awarded by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA).
NQs include: Standard Grades, National Courses at Access, Intermediate, Higher and Advanced Higher level – and National Units. Standard Grades can be taken only in schools.
NQs are being revised. By 2013, new qualifications –called National 4 and National 5 – will replace Standard Grade General and Credit, and Intermediate 1 and 2 qualifications.
Skills for Work courses are also NQs. Select the Skills for Work option on your right to find out more about this range of work-related courses.
